4 Most Exclusive Beaches in the French Riviera

The playground of Hollywood movie stars and celebrities from around the world for decades, the French Riviera is drenched in old-fashioned glitz, glamor, and exclusive class. As well as being elegant, sophisticated, and dripping in star power, the French Riviera boasts some of the best beaches in Europe.

Stretching from Italy to Toulon, the 120-mile stretch of coast known as the Cote D’Azur is a true delight. Thanks to the gorgeous Mediterranean climate, long stretches of golden sand, and a treasure trove of hidden rocky inlets and bays disguised by sheer white cliffs, the French Riviera is one of the best places to visit for a European beach vacation, as well as one of 2022’s best cruise destinations.

So if you are thinking of voyaging to the south of France next year, or taking a little pied a terre for the summer, here are four of the most exclusive beaches to discover on the French Riviera.

1. Anjuna Beach

This utterly charming bay in Èze-sur-Mer is a favorite hangout spot for celebrities, superyachts, and the always exclusive Monaco Grand Prix crowd. The beach is a delight, all golden sand, bright parasols, and gorgeous views, and the setting is exceptional, with an array of chic bars and restaurants offering beach service and live music.

2. Calanque du Sugiton

One of the most breathtaking and remarkable sights of the Cote D’Azur, the Calanques are the collection of unbelievably beautiful inlets, bays, and coves nestled away between sheer white limestone cliffs in the national park between Cassis and Marseilles. Almost every calanque is stunning, but the Calanque du Sugiton offers that extra drop of exclusivity. Tiny, and only accessible by boat, it is one of the most delightful spots to visit in this part of the world.

3. Esterel and Plage D’Abel Ballif

Most tourists who visit the Riviera tend to stick to Cannes and St Tropez, and miss out on Esterel, the amazing stretch of coastline in between. Full of miniature secret beaches known only to a select few, Plage D’Abel Ballif is one of the best, a wonderful combination of glittering blue waters and dark red rocks.

4. Paloma Beach

A favorite of the denizens of the luxury villas of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Paloma Beach is exclusivity personified. Named after the daughter of Pablo Picasso, it is one of the most venerable beach clubs in the south of France, and offers beauty, incredible facilities, and a respite from the crowds of other popular spots like Antibes or St Tropez.
